Pink Ribbon Parade

Hi Everyone,

Many of you know that two of my friends coined the name Waltz Warriors for us at our first Race for the Cure in 2008 (thank you Keely and Emily!).  Since then we have been identified as Waltz Warriors in various events and annual fundraisers all related to fighting breast cancer.

This year Waltz Warriors will be participating in the first ever Pink Ribbon Parade!  This parade will occur in October in the streets of Houston.  Life size pink ribbons, all decorated uniquely will help spread awareness while raising funds for the Breast Health Collaborative of Texas and other breast health organizations throughout the state.  We are thrilled to be a part of this!  If you are familiar with the cow parade that took place a couple of years ago, you will recognize the pink ribbon parade as very similar.

My dear friend and renowned artist, Kermit Eisenhut will be the artist designing our ribbon.  Together we will plan a theme related to being a Warrior against breast cancer (any cancer for that matter!)  We will raise money for Pink Ribbons Project, an organization here in Houston that I volunteer at and LOVE.

Here is the catch….. we (you and I) must raise $5,000!  Yes, that is a lot of money, but in 2008 Waltz Warriors raised over $25,000 and for the last two years over $6,000 each year!  So, I know we have the support to meet this goal.

I will be sending out monthly reminders.  So, please, please consider us as you plan your giving for this year.  We must attack cancer as Warriors.  In less than 5 years, 4 precious ladies in my Sunday school class have been diagnosed with cancer- 4 of us with breast cancer and 1 with brain cancer.  We all have young children currently ranging from 3 to 10.  This is crazy!  We are all healthy ladies with a zest for life.  And did I tell you we all range from 30’s to 40’s in age.  What is happening?

I know God has a plan for each of us.  But, like my friend Kathleen always says, We Choose Life!  So, let’s get busy!

You may donate directly through the site to my paypal account.  You may also give me a check payable to “The Rose”.

Hugs to all and Be Well,

  1. Amy, What a great way to kick-off your fundraising for WW's Pink Ribbon for the Pink Ribbon Parade. Also thanks that you have once again chosen Pink Ribbons Project to be the beneficiary of some of the funds.
    Truly,
    Susan
